Mangaluru: Thawar Chand Gehlot, the Governor of Karnataka, has strongly advocated for the establishment of fully equipped physiotherapy units in all primary health centers (PHCs) throughout the state. He highlighted the significant role of physiotherapy as a crucial medical treatment during his keynote address at the 'Mangalore Physiocon International Physiotherapy Conference,' which was organized by the South Canara Physiotherapy Teachers Association and held at the TMA Pai International Convention Centre in Mangaluru over a two-day period.

Governor Gehlot emphasized the growing recognition of physiotherapy as a valuable medical intervention that offers substantial benefits to patients, both in terms of physical and mental well-being. Furthermore, he made reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Fit India Movement' and the surging demand for physiotherapists in various healthcare settings, including orthopedic clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and sports facilities.

Several prominent figures attended the event, including UT Khader, the Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly, Sharanaprakash Rudrappa Patil, the Karnataka Minister for Medical Education, Dr. MK Ramesh, the Vice-Chancellor of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), and Dr. Sanjiv Jha, Chairman of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, among others.
