Mangaluru: Karnataka Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh raised concerns about the exorbitant cost of a 2.1-kilometer road project under the Netravathi waterfront development project. The project, pegged at Rs 70 crore, was deemed excessively expensive by Suresh. He instructed officials to reevaluate the proposal and present a revised estimate.

Suresh also directed officials to formulate an alternative proposal for the Nair Kudru development project, as its chances of receiving CRZ approval were slim. The project, envisioned to include an open-air theater, water sports park, and other amenities, carried a cost of Rs 49.65 crore.

Meanwhile, MUDA Commissioner Mansur Ali informed that a survey for the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) or Master Plan for the city was nearing completion, with an expected deadline of March-end. The survey, initiated in 2019, had faced delays due to various unforeseen circumstances.

Ali also announced that two MUDA layouts would be ready within the next six months. However, he acknowledged the lack of buyer interest in sites developed in Kunjathbail. He was instructed by the minister to devise a proposal for a group house complex (apartments) in Kunjathbail.
