Mangaluru: State Minister for Housing, Wakf and Minority Welfare Zameer Ahmed Khan paid a surprise visit to the Minorities Post-Matric boys hostel at Valencia on Tuesday.

He was gravely concerned about the lack of maintenance and cleanliness at the hostel.

The minister immediately suspended Taluk Extension officer Manjunath and issued showcause notices to District Minorities Officer Jinendra and Warden Ashok. He also directed officials to take immediate action to improve the condition of the hostel.

The minister found that the toilets were ill-maintained and the students were not being provided with adequate food. He also heard complaints from the students that they were not being provided with bedsheets and pillows.

The mhostel2.jpginister assured the students that their problems would be addressed and that the hostel would be brought up to a satisfactory standard. He also instructed the officials to take disciplinary action against the officers responsible for the poor condition of the hostel.
