Mangaluru: A youth from Bagalkote drowned at Mallamar beach near Mangaluru on Sunday, while two of his friends were rescued.

The deceased has been identified as Manthesh (29).

The three friends were washed away by giant tidal waves.

Local people rescued the other two friends, but Manthesh could not be found. His body was later recovered from the sea.

Suratkal police have registered a case.
