Mangaluru: In a disturbing incident of immoral policing, Manish Poojari and Manjunath Acharya, residents of Tumbe, were arrested for their involvement in the assault. The incident took place on July 27 when Kumar Hanumantappa, a police officer from the Bantwal DYSP office, was returning home after having dinner at a hotel on BC Road with his wife and sister-in-law. The accused, standing in front of a bar, began following them.

Stopping Kumar on their bike, he identified himself as a police officer, but they refused to believe him and proceeded to make derogatory remarks, assuming he belonged to the Beary community. Despite Kumar's attempts to explain, they continued their aggressive behavior and even threatened him, as described in Kumar's complaint.

Moreover, the accused face an additional complaint for filming a video of Kumar's wife and attempting to molest her.

The Bantwal police station registered a case.
