New Delhi: The dilemma over selecting the Lok Sabha speaker for the Lower House of parliament within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is not expected to be resolved soon. On Sunday, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut described the newly formed government as “weak,” emphasizing that the battle for the Lok Sabha speaker is crucial and has put the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a difficult position.

Raut pointed out that if the BJP does not secure the Lok Sabha speaker post, it might destabilize other parties like the TDP, JDU, and LJP.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu has expressed his interest in the Lok Sabha speaker seat. According to Raut, if the BJP does not support Naidu's demand, the INDIA alliance will back the TDP candidate for the position.

"This fight for the Lok Sabha Speaker is significant. The situation now differs from 2014 and 2019. The government lacks stability... We've heard that Chandrababu Naidu has asked for the Lok Sabha Speaker post," Raut told ANI.

Raut also mentioned that his party will ensure full support from all INDIA bloc members for the TDP candidate for Lok Sabha speaker.

"If Chandrababu Naidu doesn't get this position, we will ensure that his candidate receives support from the INDIA alliance," Raut added.

According to Economic Times, Chandrababu Naidu aims to make a TDP MP the Speaker of the Lok Sabha after the NDA secured power for the third time. Unlike previous elections, the NDA returned with a reduced number of Lok Sabha seats for the BJP, which won 240 seats, falling short of the majority mark. The BJP formed the government with support from other NDA allies, including the JDU and TDP.
