New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and MP Sanjay Singh said on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeks a third term at the age of 73 but wants Agniveers to retire at the age of 21.
Singh also raised questions about Union Home Minister Amit Shah's son Jay Shah holding the post of secretary in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
"Does Amit Shah's son know how to hold a bat? But he is the chairman of BCCI. PM Modi wants a third term at the age of 73 years and a 'jawan' will be retired at the age of 21 years. These people are 'ghor parivaarwaadi'. PM Modi, Amit Shah and the BJP have no work but to help their family and friends grow.
"They have offered country's wealth to their friends. Rs 15 lakh crore debts of businessmen were waived off. So this is their character, we are working for the country, but they are working for their friends," he alleged.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday claimed that the Indian Army was against the idea of the Agnipath scheme. This policy was the brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all decisions regarding it were taken in the Prime Minister's Office.
Congress in its manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls has promised to abolish Agnipath Scheme and return to the normal recruitment processes followed by the Army, Navy and Air Force. "It will guarantee economic and social security for our soldiers," the manifesto read.
The elections to the seven seats of Delhi will be held on May 25 and the results of all Lok Sabha seats will be declared on June 4.
