‘Prices of essentials rising while people’s incomes falling’: D K Shivakumar

Honnavar (DHNS): KPCC President D K Shivakumar said that the history of the Congress is equated with the history of the country and we are committed to the principle that there is no God greater than Shiva and no quality greater than faith.

Campaigning for Congress party candidate at Honnavar on Thursday, he said, Prime Minister Modi’s promise to get black money back from foreign countries and deposit it in people’s accounts has come a cropper. Under the double-engine government, the prices of essential goods have gone up while the people’s income has gone down.

He said that the Congress party works for the betterment of the common man and they will come to their rescue. They have already given guarantee cards to people and the guarantees will be fulfilled on coming to power. The party is committed to giving free bus travel for women, free institutional delivery, and submission of proposals to the Centre to issue pattas to forest encroachers. “Unlike BJP’s Bhagya Yojana, our scheme will not give scope for corruption,” Shivakumar assured.

Representation for Vokkaligas

“I am a Vokkaliga and the party wanted to give candidature of Kumta-Honnavar seat to a Vokkaliga as the community is dominant in the region. But Nivedith Alva has been given a chance as he was denied of several opportunities earlier. If Congress comes to power, the Vokkaliga community will be given a suitable representation,” he added.
