Udupi: Udupi Deputy Commissioner K. Vidyakumari has enforced a prohibition on processions, public speeches, and the display of banners and buntings for or against the 'Mahisha Dasara' festival in the district, starting from 6 a.m. on Saturday until 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Exercising authority under Section 35 of the Karnataka Police Act, Ms. Vidyakumari issued the order on Friday, citing the necessity to uphold law and order and prevent traffic disruptions during the ongoing Dasara celebrations in Udupi district.

The Deputy Commissioner has expressly forbidden the chanting of slogans, making disparaging remarks, and delivering inflammatory speeches in relation to Mahisha Dasara.

Furthermore, carrying any form of weaponry that could cause harm to individuals, as well as the detonation of fireworks and the possession of explosive materials, has been strictly prohibited during this period.
