Udupi: Prostitution racket busted, 5 women rescued

Udupi: In a successful operation on Saturday, the police busted a prostitution racket in Vidyaratna Nagar, Shivalli village, Manipal, rescuing five women. Acting on a tip-off, the cops swiftly conducted a raid, leading to the arrest of A Salamat and Chandrahasa. However, the accused, Khalid, managed to evade the police and is currently on the run.

Among the rescued women, three hailed from Bengaluru, while the remaining two were from Nashik and Mumbai. During the raid, the police confiscated condoms, four mobile phones, one automobile, two motorcycles, and Rs 10,000 in cash found in their possession.

In another related operation, a house in Shantinagar was raided by a team led by Brahmavar Inspector Diwakar. The police took this action following information about another possible prostitution racket.

A case had been registered.
