Haliyal: A surprise inspection by MLA R V Deshpande at the Revenue Department office in Haliyal led to a stern rebuke directed at the staff for their lackluster and non-transparent performance.

Prompted by public complaints of extortion from certain officers and employees within the Revenue Department, as well as the sub-registrar's and Land Survey offices, Deshpande paid an unannounced visit. Allegations included solicitation of bribes and unnecessary red tape, causing frustration among citizens seeking even the simplest services.

During his visit, Deshpande thoroughly assessed each department's operations, expressing dissatisfaction with the sluggish work pace and prolonged processing times for applications.

Following this, an impromptu meeting convened in the tahsildar’s chamber, where Deshpande strongly criticized staff members who were absent from duty during regular hours.Issuing a stern warning, he declared that individuals involved in bribery would face consequences.
