Udupi: Udupi district Deputy Commissioner Dr K Vidyakumari has  announced the commencement of the registration process for the Graduates and Teachers constituencies election.

During a press briefing at the DC’s office on Thursday, she emphasized the ongoing updates to the list, stating that the deadline for enrolling in the Graduate constituency is November 5.

To be eligible for enrollment in the graduate constituency, individuals must hold a degree from a UGC-recognized university. The submission of the convocation certificate and confirmation of the current address are obligatory. In cases where the individual is unable to register personally, the certificate must be attested by a gazetted officer.

Teachers interested in registering for the constituency can obtain Form 19, with only high school and college teachers being eligible. They are required to submit their applications to the head of their respective institutions, who will then forward them to tahsildars along with a covering note.

The election is scheduled to take place in June 2024. In the previous election, 8,636 graduates and 2,768 teachers had successfully registered for the Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies, respectively.

Several awareness campaigns will be organized to encourage more individuals to enroll in the voters’ list. Even those who have graduated and are currently residing outside the district are encouraged to register and exercise their voting rights.
