Udupi Police arrested Notorious Thief Involved in Burglary of Valuables Worth Rs 73 Lakhs

Udupi: Udupi police arrested a notorious thief, Manjunatha alias Kalkere Manja (43) from Uttarahalli in Bengaluru, for his involvement in the burglary of valuable items worth a substantial amount from a residence in Kunjibettu.

The seized items include 530 grams of gold jewelry valued at Rs 31,55,930, silver jewelry worth Rs 15,12,000, a stolen car valued at Rs 2.5 lakhs, counterfeit number plates, and iron rods.

The incident took place at the residence of Ammunje Vittaldas Nayak on the night of October 8, where the thieves reportedly made away with gold and silver ornaments valued at over Rs 73 lakhs.

Following an investigation by a specialized police team, Manjunatha was arrested along with the stolen car in the vicinity of Balaipade, Udyavar. However, authorities have stated that there are additional stolen valuables still outstanding and yet to be recovered.

Manjunatha has a lengthy history of criminal activity, with over 60 pending cases against him in various police stations across the state.
