Udupi: Heavy Rain Leaves 30 Houses and Cattle Sheds Damaged

Udupi: In the past 24 hours, incessant rains have caused significant damage to many houses and cattle sheds in Udupi.

Numerous areas in Udupi, including Majur, Padur, Mallaru, Gulwadi, Karkunje, Kaltur, Kodi, Uppinakudru, Parampalli, Badagabettu, Udyavara, Kadekaru, Neere, Shiroor, and Kirimanjeshwara, have reported damage to approximately 30 houses.

One resident, Komnu Panthi, faced a loss of Rs two lakh after his house was partially damaged in Karkunje. Similarly, the house belonging to Nagaraj in Badagabettu also suffered partial damage due to heavy rain, resulting in an estimated loss of Rs one lakh.

Additionally, the rain caused damage to three cattle sheds in Kalthodu and Paduvari, located in the Byndoor area.

Among the different taluks in the region, Hebri received the highest rainfall of 113.1 mm, followed by Byndoor with 97 mm, Kundapur with 96.4 mm, Udupi with 92.5 mm, Karkala with 91.7 mm, Kaup with 86 mm, and Brahmavara with 84.7 mm in the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am on Wednesday.
