Udupi: A 20-year-old has been found guilty in a Pocso case in Udupi.

Anup, a resident of Kundapur, was convicted for the sexual assault of a minor girl and has been sentenced to three years of imprisonment by Additinal District and Sessions Judge Srinivasa Suvarna. Anup had initially connected with the 16-year-old girl through social media in May 2019. He then proceeded to sexually assault her after resorting to blackmail.

The Kundapur police station registered a case under the Pocso Act, following which Kundapur DySP Srikanth K submitted the charge sheet in court. The presiding judge, Srinivasa Suvarna, supported the arguments put forth by the public prosecutor and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000. The receptionist from the lodging, who was accused of aiding the assault, was acquitted due to insufficient evidence.
