Mangaluru: In a recent raid carried out by Health Department officials on Wednesday, two clinics operating without proper registration under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act (KPMEA) were shuttered.

The inspection, spearheaded by District Health Officer (DHO) H R Thimmaiah and his team, aimed to verify the registration status of private medical establishments, encompassing clinics and laboratories, under the KPMEA.

The health officials closed down an unregistered clinic and laboratory in Moodushedde and another unregistered clinic in Hampankatta. Dr. Thimmaiah emphasized that all Allopathy, Ayush, and dental clinics, genetic laboratories, physiotherapy centers, as well as laboratories and lab collection sample centers, must renew their registration within a week. Dr. Thimmaiah issued a stern warning about the potential consequences under the Act for clinics and other medical establishments that either fail to register or neglect to renew their registration.
