Bhatkal: Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Prabhuling Kavalikatti has taken stock of the situation amidst the continued rainfall in the region. Instructing the IRB, municipality, and taluk administration, he emphasized the importance of ensuring the smooth flow of water in the town, reassuring the public that there is no cause for concern.

On Wednesday evening, officials conducted a thorough search of the flooded area and conducted inspections. Over the past few days, the taluk has experienced relentless rain, resulting in widespread road flooding. This has not only disrupted vehicular traffic but has also inconvenienced pedestrians, particularly students attempting to cross the roads. The frustration of the public has been directed not only at the taluk administration but also at the district administration, prompting the visit of Deputy Commissioner Prabhuling Kavalikatti to Bhatkal.

A meeting was held later at the Circuit House, attended by representatives from  various organizations, and the public. The gathering expressed significant anger towards the incomplete highway work and inadequate drainage systems. The delayed response to these issues before the rainy season exacerbated the discontent.

After hearing the grievances, theDeputy Commissioner Prabhuling Kavalikatti instructed the Bhatkal  Assistant Commissioner  to take immediate action, with Nayana and Tehsildar Tippeswamy guiding the process. The Municipal Officer, Suresh Kumar, was questioned regarding his failure to report Bhatkal's problems to senior officials.
