Uttara Kannada District Aims for Economic Boost through Tourism Sector

Karwar: "The development of the district hinges on progress in the tourism sector," stated District In-charge Minister Mankal Vaidya during the Tourism Day program held at Ajvi Ocean Hall in Karwar. 

Vaidya emphasized the vital role that tourism sector advancement will play in the district's growth. He also highlighted the challenges faced in previous efforts to enhance tourist destinations and sectors, but noted the current positive trend of increased investor interest, promising to provide necessary facilities to encourage tourism sector investments.

Vaidya also underscored the district's exceptional natural beauty, featuring rivers, waterfalls, seas, mountains, and forests that can captivate tourists. He emphasized the potential of the tourism sector to generate employment and address unemployment issues.

In addition to the discussions, the Tourism Day festivities included various competitions such as tug-of-war, cycling, sack races, and more, which saw enthusiastic participation despite drizzly weather conditions.

Karwar MLA Satish Sail,  Zilla Panchayat CEO Iswar Kandoo, Deputy Commissioner Gangubai Manakar, Deputy Director of Tourism Department Baby Mogher, Pushpalatha Vaidya, Nayana Naik, Meghna, and others were present.
