Mangaluru: A woman and her child were found dead in the Nethravati river near Harekala Kadav, Mangaluru on Friday.

The deceased are identified as Chaitra (30) and Diyansh, residents of Adyar, they were last seen walking towards the bridge. Family reported them missing, sparking a search and social media alerts. The pair had celebrated Diyansh's first birthday on March 28 before the tragedy. 

Police suspect suicide, but the motive remains unclear. 

A case had been registered at Konaje Police.
