Udupi: District In-charge Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar visited and inspected sea erosion-affected area in Kadipatna, Padubidri on Saturday.
Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar personally assessed the impact of sea erosion in the area. Expressing concern over the recurring issue of sea erosion, she emphasized the need for immediate action and a long-term solution.She assured the residents that addressing sea erosion would be given high priority.
In collaboration with the state and central governments, she pledged to work towards implementing permanent measures to prevent sea erosion.
She also interacted with local officials, residents, and community leaders to gain a better understanding of the challenges they face.
She assured the affected families that the government is committed to supporting them and informed them that compensation of Rs. 5 lakhs has already been provided to the families of the victims who lost their lives due to the recent natural calamity.
Minister Hebbalkar directed the authorities to promptly distribute appropriate compensation to those who suffered losses, including damages to houses and loss of livestock, due to the sea erosion.
Kapu MLA Suresh Shetty, Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M, and other officials were present.
