Udupi: District In-charge Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, the emphasized that moral policing will not be tolerated, stating firmly, "Those engaging in moral policing will face severe consequences." She made these remarks during a press conference on Friday, addressing concerns related to this issue.

In response to a query, Hebbalkar expressed that despite receiving a clear decision regarding the sharing of Cauvery water, the government is obliged to adhere to the directives of the Supreme Court. She underscored that the Congress government is dedicated to serving the people and is resolute in safeguarding the interests of farmers.

In response to another question, Hebbalkar noted that only Karkala taluk in the district has been included in the list of drought-affected taluks. She assured that the remaining taluks would be added to the second list, addressing the issue of drought relief.

Regarding the declaration of drought-hit taluks, she mentioned that 13 taluks in the Belagavi district have already been designated as drought-affected areas. She clarified that her constituency is an exception to this designation, and emphasized that there are no political motives behind this decision. She further stated that taluks experiencing inadequate rainfall would be included in the second list of drought-affected areas.
