Mangaluru: Former mayor and karate champion Kavitha Sanil expressed her condemnation towards the New Delhi police for insulting the pride of the country. She stated that the police brutally assaulted the protesting wrestlers, who have been demonstrating against sexual assault for a month.
Sanil emphasized that athletes are the pride of the nation and criticized the government for neglecting their grievances. She described the incident as a dark day in the history of Indian sports and highlighted the failure to arrest Indian Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan, who is a BJP MP, despite the registration of an FIR against him for sexual assault.
Sanil further criticized the BJP-led Central government for undermining the law.
The press meet was attended by Congress leaders Appi, Jacinta Vijaya Alfred, Sabita Misquit, and Kavita Vasu.
