Karwar: Karnataka Development Programmes (KDP) review meeting in Karwar chair by Fisheries, Ports & Inland Water Transport and District In-charge Minister Mankal Vaidya issuing a stern warning to government officers on Friday.

"Government officers must demonstrate genuine concern for the district's various situations and work accordingly. Only those who are committed to their responsibilities should continue working here. If not interested, I am willing to assist in transferring individuals to another district," Vaidya cautioned.

Addressing financial concerns, Vaidya expressed the need to rectify the previous government's excessive allocation of funds for various works. He cited pending projects amounting to Rs 250 crore sanctioned by the PWD in Karwar and Sirsi divisions. To address the situation, the Congress government released Rs 20 crore after assuming power.

In terms of healthcare, Vaidya directed government doctors to prioritize quality healthcare services within the district, reducing the need to transfer patients to neighboring regions.

The minister stressed the importance of basic facilities in all schools and suggested a shift from frequent repairs to investing in new school buildings to save money in the long run. He also requested a report on schools with less than 10 children, considering the opinions of people's representatives and parents.

During the meeting, various MLAs raised concerns about patient care, facilities for Endosulfan victims, and the status of closed-down schools. Responding to these issues, Vaidya instructed officials to conduct surveys and address the needs of the affected individuals.

Regarding the Anna Bhagya Scheme, the Food Department officials reported that a significant portion of ration cardholders had received their entitled rice allocation. The minister requested the officials to ensure the remaining beneficiaries also receive their allocations promptly.
