Karwar: Deputy Commissioner Gangubai Mankar expressed concern over the rampant use of single-use plastics in Uttara Kannada, despite a ban on these items. She directed officials to take immediate action to curb this trend.

During a meeting of the District-level Task Force Committee in Karwar, Mankar urged Pollution Control Board officials to regularly inspect solid waste management facilities in both urban and rural areas. She stressed the importance of proper waste disposal and the recovery of prohibited waste materials.

Mankar also emphasized the need for local authorities to raise public awareness about waste reduction.
