Mangaluru(DHNS): The police have been successful in blocking 110 lost mobile phones using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal in the past 10 days.

Superintendent of Police Dr Vikram Amathe said the public can make use of the facility to prevent misuse of their lost/stolen mobile phones. In the past 10 days, the police have been successful in tracing 15 lost mobile phones and handing them over to respective owners.

The portal also helps police to trace such mobile phones. The public can block their lost mobile phones.

Within 24 hours, the lost mobiles will be blocked after registering in the portal. Any attempt to misuse the phone will be made known to the complainant.

Once the lost phone is recovered, the same website can be used for unblocking the IMEI from using the phone.
