Karwar: The election expenditure details of Shivram Hebbar, the BJP candidate from Yellapur Constituency, and Sunil Naik, the BJP candidate from Bhatkal Constituency, in the recent assembly elections have been submitted to the Election Commission.
According to Deputy Commissioner Prabhuling Kavalakatti, candidates were permitted to spend a maximum of Rs 40 lakh. However, expenditure observers discovered that Shivram Hebbar exceeded the limit by Rs 1.5 lakh and Sunil Naik surpassed the ceiling by Rs 5 lakh. A report regarding this has been sent to the Chief Electoral Officer.
Although the candidates' expenditure certificates indicated that they had spent below the ceiling, the scrutiny by expenditure observers revealed that they had exceeded the limit.
In the report submitted to the Election Commission, Shivaram Hebbar declared that he had spent Rs 38,16,363, while Sunil Naik reported an expenditure of Rs 30,48,984.
