Karwar(DHNS): District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti said that the model code of conduct has come into effect in the district on Wednesday. To maintain transparency while dealing with complaints regarding the violation of the model code of conduct, they have prepared separate lists of development works pertaining to the district.
Speaking at a press conference in Karwar on Wednesday, Kavalikatti said that they have complete information about development works that have been approved by the government and have been initiated, works that have the required approvals but have not started, and those which do not have approvals.
“Works cannot be considered as initiated just because the elected representatives have performed Bhumi Puja. Only those works which started before the model code of conduct came into effect will be allowed to continue,” Kavalikatti explained.
Kavalikatti said that banners and buntings were removed across the district three days before the code of conduct came into effect. Police and Excise teams are keeping a watch on the check-posts.
