Udupi: Minister Hebbalkar Pledges to Take District to New Heights Through Development

Udupi: Udupi district is committed to new heights through development, said Udupi District In-charge Minister and State Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar at 77th Independence Day celebration at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium in Ajjarkad, Udupi on Tuesday.

Hebbalkar assured the people of the district that she would pay attention to the unique problems and demands of the district, including sea erosion and construction of emergency footbridge, and take all kinds of measures to find a permanent solution to these.

She called on people to overcome caste and religion, which lead to communal conflict, and move ahead with the patriotism that we are all one as Indians. She said that it is our duty to thwart all evil forces and attempts to disturb the peace and tranquility.
Hebbalkar said that there is a pro-people government in the state that is striving for the prosperity of the country with the hope of building a prosperous Karnataka. She said that this government has worked on the path of socialist, secular and democratic values as per the wishes of the constitution.

She said that steps have been taken to implement the five guarantees given during the election immediately after coming to power. The guarantees have received wide public support across the state including Udupi district. Through this, our government is committed to the overall development of the state, she said.

Hebbalkar said that Shakti Yojana to encourage self-reliance of women, Anna Bhagya Yojana with the objective of hunger-free Karnataka, Gruha Jyothi which provides free electricity up to 200 units have already been implemented. She said that the registration for the aspirant Gruha Lakshmi Yojana is already underway and it will be implemented from 27th of this month.

She said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has shown that our government is a government that works as it says. The proof of this is the allocation of Rs. 35,410 crore in the budget of 2023-24 for implementation of five guarantees.

A cultural program was held by the school students with enthusiastic song and dance. Various facilities including talking laptop, braille kit were distributed to the blind students with disabilities.

Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna, Kapu MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, District Collector Dr.K. Vidyakumari, District SP Akshay M. Hake, GPM CEO Prasanna H., Additional District Collector Mamatadevi were present.
