Pure drinking water unit set up at Karwar bus stand

Karwar: North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) Sirsi Division Controller Sudarshan Hebbal recently inaugurated a pure drinking water unit set up at the bus stand in Karwar using funds of Rs 1.61 lakh donated by Rotary Club and other philanthropists.

Speaking on the occasion, Rotary Deputy Governor Vinayak Shanbag Baleri said that Rotary Club had been working for the development of the society since years. “Our works have to benefit the poor and the needy and the club members have to make all efforts to achieve the goal. The pure drinking water unit has been set up in the bus stand as it is a public place and drinking water is most essential in such crowded places”, he said.

On the occasion, donors including Ganga Automobile owner Amarnath Shetty, Dileep Vernekar of Swagat Jewellers and Rotary Charitable Trust President M A Kittur were felicitated. Club former community director Maruthi Kamat was also thanked.

Rotary Club community director Raghavendra Prabhu elaborated the benefits of the water unit. Rotary Club President Anmol Revankar presided over the programme. Club former president Rajesh Vernekar had organised the programme and L S Fernandes compered the programme. Secretary Mohan Naik proposed the vote of thanks. NWKRTC depot manager Tushar was present.
