Kumta: In an misty cool of winter, a night lasting flood light Kabaddi tournament kicked off in style, organized by Kumta's Al-Shabab Youth Committee at Yusuf Khan ground, located at muslim street in Kumta.

The inaugural ceremony began after magrib prayers with the recitation of versus from Holy Quran by Maulana Minnatullah Qasmi, following the guests addressed their views to the crowd present. Later, matches began after Isha prayers.

Around six teams participated in this tourney, each team bearing under one ownership. Thousands of crowd witnessed the matches by cheering and encouraging the players. Referees were present from Bhatkal.

As the league continued, team Rayyan Riders and Cheetah fighters jumped on to the finals, were Rayyan Riders with their excellent performance won the championship and Cheetah Fighters belonging to Rehman's group emergrd as the runner up for the league . It maybe noted that team Rayyan Riders was handled under the ownership of Iftiqar Shaikh from Kumta.

As the cheif guest, president of Kumta Jamat-Ul-Muslimeen Muhammad Shafi Shaikh were present. Other guest of honour included Gen. Secretary of North Kanara Muslim United Forum Muhammad Mohsin Quazi, Kumta muslim association president Muhammad Akbar Mulla, Senior personality Janab Adam Khan Saheb were present.
