Bhatkal: A parade by police personnel, Scouts, National Cadet Corps cadets and a dance presentation by students marked the 70th Republic Day celebrations here on Saturday.

Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner Sajid Ahmed Mulla unfurled the national flag, delivered the Republic Day address and received the salute from the members of various troupes of Police, NCC, Scouts and schools students. 
 Mr. Sajiid Ahmed in his address, said the republican system of inida is too strong, the power. Dr. B R Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Republic provided equal rights to all the citizens of the country. 
Republic Day is not only a festival of India but also the day of giving great honour to the Indian constitution., he added.

He underlined the importance of the Constitution and the secular fabric of India. 
The parade and felicitation programmes were followed by dance performance by students of schools. 
The students from schools and  colleges, who won prizes in cultural events and sports events at the state level and national level, were felicitated with certificates on the occasion.  

The Republic Day was also celebrated with great enthusiasm across the Taluk by government and private organizations.
