Karwar (ENS): Karnataka Flag officer Rear Admiral KJ Kumar informed that discussions were on to shift the retired navy warship ‘Tupolev142M’ beside INS Chapal Warship Museum in Karwar.
After inspecting the place near Warship museum, along with Deputy Commissioner SS Nakul and senior officers, he said three warships belong to Tupolev series were retired from service and one among those was kept in Vishakapatnam. According to the letter written to Defense Minister Arun jaitley by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seeking to place order warship in Karwar, official processes are on and it will take two more months, he added.
Due to several reasons, Chapal Warship museum has not been maintained properly. Hence, plans will be made to renew the museum with the expenditure of Rs 30 lakh, Kumar said.
