Karwar: A 32-year-old bike rider was killed on the spot in a road mishap that happened on Muduga NH-66 in the outskirts of Karwar on Monday morning.

The deceased, identified as Guruprasad Naik, is a resident of Toduru village in Karwar.

It is gathered that the accident has taken place when Guruprasad, who was employed as a clerk in one of private schools in Hattikeri village in Ankola, was heading for his duty from Karwar. His body was noticed later after the mishap. On receiving the information, police personnel rushed to the spot and conducted the necessary investigations. It is suspected that the mishap may be a 'Hit-and-run' case. However, the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.

Police have registered a case in Karwar rural police station and investigations are underway.
