Sirsi: Observing the 26th anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Masjid, SDPI staged a massive protest at post circle in Sirsi today.
Besides demanding that the place of worship be rebuilt, the activists have called on the government and law enforcement agencies to clear all pending cases pertaining to the demolition of the masjid and initiate action against those involved in razing the 15th-century masjid.
The activists asked the government to refrain from passing any legislation in the Parliament, which would hobble the practice of the principles of fair justice.
They subsequently expressed gratitude to those of a secular mindset, for their support.
The protesters gathered in post circle and raised slogans against pro-Hindu organisations that were responsible for bringing the structure down, and instigating communal violence.
SDPI leader Moulana Muazzam accused RSS members of fomenting chaos in the country and destroying democratic values by raising calls to build the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
SDPI state general secretary Ashraf Machar, SDPI district President Taufiq Byari, Sirsi PFI division president Mohsin Honnavar, Division secretary Abdul Gaffar, SDPI district general secretary Arif Raza, SDPI District council and PFI District council members along with scores of cadres were present during the protest meet.
