Social worker Nazeer Ahmed honoured with Rajyotsava award-2016 in Karwar

Karwar: The well-known personality and the famous social worker, Nazeer Ahmed U Shaikh, was honoured with the Rajyotsava award this year for his uncountable services in the social field. It maybe noted that, every year, on 1st of November, the personalities who emerge themselves in the commendable and social services in various spheres of life, are honoured with the Rajyotsava award from the Kannada and cultural department under Govt of Karnataka. Around 60 people and one organization was honoured with this award this year. The award values with cash amount of rupees One lakh, gold medal weighing 20gms with the achievement certificate.

Since 40 years, Nazeer Ahmed is one of the well-known social worker in Karwar and is considered personality from the entire Uttar Kannada district. Specially, he indulged himself in organizing blood donation cams and also arranged camps in schools for rectifying the blood group of the students. His achievements have set an ultimate record, as he himself has came forward for donating his blood plenty of times. In only one year, around 40 blood-group-checking camps was organised by him in various schools. Observing his services, he was previously honoured with national and international awards.

The award was honoured from hands of Karnataka chief minister Siddaramiah at Ravindra Kalakhsetra. On the occasion, minister of Kannada and cultural department Uma Shri, Urban development minister KS George, Bangalore city municipal corporation mayor Padmavati, General secretary of Kannada and Cultural department Uma Shankar, Parliamentary secretary Shakuntala and many other dignitaries were present.
