Kumta: A grisly road accident took place near Dundakuli NH66 in Kumta between bike and tanker in the early morning of 5th October, Wednesday around 7:30am. The bike rider is said to have sustained grievous injuries on his face.

The grievously injured bike rider has been identified as Budvant Gouda (38), a resident of Dundakuli of Kumta. The injured was immediately taken to Manipal hospital, after providing initial treatment at Kumta govt. hospital. 

An eyewitness said that the negligence in the driving of the tanker led to this incident. The bike was on its way towards Kumta town from Dundakuli, while the speedy tanker was on the way towards Ankola route from Kumta when the accident occurred. The tanker is identified as Tamil Nadu passing bearing registration number TN30AQ5999, while bike had a Karwar based registration number KA30Q6706.

The police rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the information and conducted the necessary investigation. A moderate traffic jam was seen on the road post mishap.

A case has been registered in Kumta police station and further investigations are on.
