Bhatkal: Deepavali has the distinction of being the only festival in which children begin celebrations way before the actual day. Bursting crackers causes noise and air pollution.
Students of Vidya Bharati English Medium School, Bhatkal took out a rally from the School campus towards Eidgah road to National Highway, Shamshuddin Circle , Bunder road and back to their school on Saturday, displaying suggestions and tips for a better Deepavali through banners and placards. Students raised slogans to spread awareness on the air and noise pollution through firecrackers also.
The students, carrying placards and banners, said that bursting of crackers was causing harm to the people and the environment. They appealed to the people to celebrate festival by only lighting the houses with lamps and avoid bursting of crackers.
Headmistress Roopa ramesh Kharvi, PSI Appaji and mnay others were present.
