Karwar: Coastguard staff, district administration and taluk administration teamed up to clean the Rabindranath Tagore Beach at Karwar on as part of World Coastal Cleanliness Day on Saturday.

Hundreds of stuents of various school and colleges of the city and NCC cadets including members of other organisations, took part in the drive. Wearing disposable hand gloves, they collected plastic and other waste, liquor bottles and disposed it of systematically.

The cleanliness drive started at 8:00 am and went on for one-and-a-half-hour.

Certificates were given to all the students who participated in the programme.
