Theft at jewellery store in Kumta, Gold worth ₹18.50 lakh stolen

Kumta: Gold ornaments and valuables worth over Rs.18.50 lakhs was stolen from a  jewelry shop located near Mastikatta circle in Kumta. The incident happened on the night of 26th May, Friday, but came to light Saturday morning.

It was studied that thieves entered the shop after digging a hole from the back side wall of the shop. 

The shop belonged to Ganapathi Haridas Shetty. 

Sources say, the thieves entered the shop and broke away the wardrobe, where they found gold ornaments of 600gm which valued 17 lakhs rupees and silver ornaments worth Rs. 1.20 lakhs and also cash amount of 30,000 rupees. Total estimated loss valued around 18.50 lakhs.

As soon as the incident came to light, it was immediately informed to shop owner and was later informed to police. Kumta police rushed to the spot and conducted necessary investigations.
