Broad daylight theft reported at a house in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: With a shocking incident of theft, it looks like the thieves are back to the town with their mission. A fresh theft incident has been reported in a broad daylight on Friday here at Jali in the town, where thieves have cleaned the entire wardrobe in a span of not more than one hour. 

It is learnt that the incident took place when the occupants of the house were out for 'Pooja' on the occasion of 'Ganesha Chaturthi' festival.

Police sources informed that the house belonging to secretary of Heble Gram panchayat Lingappa Naik was looted by the thieves when they had been for Pooja by letting the rear door slightly closed assuming no one would enter the home as the Pooja venue was nearby. Unfortunately, the entire theft incident took place in less than one hour. The thieves made away with gold rings and other ornaments including cash amount of ten thousand rupees. 

According to Lingappa, the estimated value of the stolen property is more than two lakh rupees.

A case has been registered in Bhatkal town police station and further investigations are underway.
