Kumta: A rider was killed on the spot after his bike was knocked by a speeding tipper lorry on Kadekodi NH66 in the outskirts of Kumta on Tuesday morning.

The deceased is identified as Tukaram Patgar, aged 30.

It is said that mishap took place due to improper placement of divider on the highway. The lorry belonged to IRB company which was involved in the four lane expansion work of highway. The impact of collision was such that the bike came underneath the wheels of lorry, killing the rider on the spot.

Acting on the tip-off, Kumta police rushed to the spot and conducted the necessary investigation.

A case stands registered in Kumta police station.
