Kasargod: A huge railway tragedy was suspected to be prevented when a crack was detected on the railway track at Kalnad on Sunday, October 9.The crack was found around 100 meters away from the Kalnad station a little before Maveli Express train from Mangaluru was about to pass.

The train which was made to halt at the station was allowed to pass after a delay of half an hour, after the crack was examined and repaired by the engineering section of the railways.

The exact reason for the crack is not yet known. It is suspected that the track has been deliberately damaged by someone as some stones were found on the crack site.

It should be noted that recently two incidents of disrupting railway service had taken place and the police said that they have taken all these incidents seriously.

All the trains have been told to move at 20 kilometer speed near the affected site till further notice.
