Yellapur: The Yellapur police on Tuesday, 4th September, arrested two youths on the charges of selling Ganja (Cannabis) illegally near Douginal-Bombadikoppa cross in the taluk in the raid the officials conducted after receiving the credible information.
The accused are identified as Sarfaraj Abdul Hameed Mulla (22) and Altaf Jamal Bepari (21), residents of Nutan Nagar in the town. One more accused Gautham Ganpati Pawar (22), a resident of Jamaguli Cross in the town is absconding.
Police recovered 1.170 kg ganja worth Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 cash, and a bike from the accused.
A case has been registered at Yellapur Police Station.
The raid was conducted under the directions of District Superintendent of Police Vinayak Patil, Additional Superintendent of Police Gopalkrishna Byakod, ASP D L Nagesh, a team led by CPI Manjunath Nayak, PSI Chandrashekhar Harihar and staff members Nagappa Lamani, Shafi Shaikh, Gajanan Naik, Rajesh Naik and Krishna Matroji were in the team.
