Bhatkal: The two persons who were burnt alive inside a car in a road accident at the Gersoppa–Sulemurki Cross in Honnavar taluk of Uttara Kannada district have been identified. The accident occurred within the limits of the Honnavar Police Station, about 70 km from Bhatkal.

According to Bhatkal DySP Mahesh M K, the deceased were identified as Manjunath Veerabhadra Hasler (35) and his brother Chandrashekhar Veerabhadra Hasler (30), residents of Kudagund in Siddapur.

Police said the two brothers were travelling from Siddapur to Honnavar when, at around 2 a.m., their car allegedly went out of control and rammed into a tree at the Gersoppa–Sulemurki Cross. The vehicle caught fire immediately after the impact, killing both occupants on the spot.

Upon receiving information, Honnavar Police and Fire Brigade teams rushed to the scene, extinguished the fire, and carried out an on-site inspection. Bhatkal DySP Mahesh M K also visited the spot and inspected the burnt vehicle.

A case has been registered at the Honnavar Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
