MANGALURU: In twin raids carried out in the city, sleuths of City Crime Branch (CCB) of Mangaluru City Police have arrested 24 persons in connection with gambling at video games centre at Kuloor and old service bus station in the city on Monday respectively. Police have seized cash and video games machine valued at Rs 1.24-lakh from these twin raids.
City police chief M Chandra Sekhar said the CCB personnel headed by Police Inspector Sunil Y Naik and staff raided Sri Sathyadevata Recreation Club at Kuloor junction and arrested 18 person. 27,900 Rs in cash and other equipments used for gambling, all valued at Rs 30,350 was also recovered. The accused were handed over to jurisdictional Kavoor police station for further legal action.
In another raid carried out on Sri Devi Recreation Club near old service bus station, CCB sleuths nabbed six persons and seized Rs 62,900 in cash and video games, all valued at Rs 93,900.
It is reported that the accused have been handed over to jurisdictional Mangaluru North Police station for further legal action.
The accused belong to places in and around the city, neighbouring Udupi district as well from Bantwal taluk, it is learnt.
