Bhatkal: Bhatkal Police on Wednesday night arrested two people who were carrying currencies of various countries worth around Rs 70 lakh without documents in a train. They were caught during the raid.
Based on a definite
tip-off, the police raided and arrested the duo at the railway station and seized the cash bag on Wednesday night.
The accused were identified as Hasan Shabbar of Qazia Street, Bhatkal, and Umair Ahmed of Takhiya Street, Bhatkal.
They were unauthorisedly carrying the currencies in the train which was moving towards Mangaluru from Goa.
On Thursday, Customs officers from Mangaluru came to Bhatkal and reviewed the foreign currency.
