Bhatkal: Two persons were arrested by Bhatkal police on Tuesday, when they tried to escape after assaulting  two cattle transporters at Bunder road on Monday evening. The accused have been identified as Ishwar Naik and Laxman Naik.

According to sources residents of Hangal, Allah Baksh and Hussain sab were transporting the cattles when two youth assaulted them. The assailants fled from the scene on a bike once the local people gathered at the spot.

Hundreds of people gathered on the spot within no time and the situation became tense but police reached the spot and managed to bring the situation under control.

Police filed a case against the assaulters upon the complaint by Allah Baksh and Hussain Sab and arrested both the accused on Tuesday.
