Mangaluru: Mangalore MLA and Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly U T Khader urged the state government to conduct a judicial inquiry into the alleged malpractices in PSI recruitment.

Addressing reporters at Circuit House in Mangaluru on Monday, he said that the state government has been suppressing the voice of the opposition.

Condemning the serving of notice to Congress leader Priyank Kharge, he said that Kharge has spoken about the PSI recruitment scam based on the information available in the public domain.

Is questioning the government a crime? he asked and alleged that involving Kharge in the scam is a politically motivated move.

Khader wanted to know why the head of the police recruitment is not summoned and issued a notice regarding the alleged scam.

What is the relevance of conducting a police inquiry when the people in the police department are accused? How was a blacklisted college made the centre for the PSI exam? he asked.

The MLA alleged that the government has failed to create jobs for youth.

The investors are not willing to invest in the state and the private companies are shutting down, resulting in the cutting of jobs, he added.

In order to divert the minds of the people from such burning issues, the government is creating unnecessary drama, he said.

To a query on BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel claiming the joining of Congress and JD(S) leaders to BJP, Khader asked whether all claims by Kateel have become true.

What happened to the assurance of supplying parboiled to the people in the region, supplying a load of sand at Rs 2,000, reducing fuel prices? he asked.

No development has taken place in the state during the last two years during the tenure of the BJP government, he said.

‘Install reflectors’

Pointing out that deadly road accidents have been taking place on the highways due to faulty barricades and reflectors, U T Khader urged the department concerned to take precautionary measures to prevent accidents.

The Pumpwell-Talapady National Highway is totally mismanaged, he added.
