Mangaluru: Armed robbery in a train, around 4kg gold stolen

Mangaluru: In a case of armed robbery reported here in a train at Suratkal, a jeweller was robbed of around 4 kg of gold on 18th September, Monday.

The jeweler has been identified as Rajendra Singh, a native of Rajasthan. He works at a jewelry company based in Mumbai.

According to sources, Singh was traveling to Kerala from Panvel near Mumbai via Netravati Express train when four armed men got into the train and robbed him of the gold he was carrying along with him.

This occurred when the train stopped at Suratkal station. The robbers were armed with a pistol and a knife. They looted him and escaped before the train began moving again. They caused some minor injuries to Singh and fled away with gold bangles weighing around 4.11 kg.

Singh immediately got down at next stop and filed a complaint at Padubidri police station. Based upon the information provided by Singh, the thieves communicated in Hindi and it is suspected that they had prior information about Singh.

A case has been registered in Padubidri police station and three teams have been formed by the police in order to trace the robbers.
