Kumta: The dead body of a woman who was missing from last three days was traced here in Aghnashini river near Mirzan of Kumta on 18th October, Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Latha Kanya Ambiga (22), a resident of Divgi of Kumta. It is suspected as the victim may have attempted suicide.

Official sources said that the deceased had gone away from home on 16th October, Sunday informing that she was going to pay amount at Dharmastala Sangha. As the day ended, her parents observed that she dint return home and immediately filed a missing case at Kumta police station.

Shockingly, her body in dead position was found floating in Aghnashini river on Monday.  It was noticed by the fishermen, who immediately informed the police station.

Kumta PSI Shashikumar rushed to the spot and investigated the matter and suspected that it would be a suicide case. But the actual reason of death is still to be ascertained.

In this regard, a case has been registered at Kumta police station and further investigations are on.
